[tri-med] Re: please help me to decide (edward's syndrome)

Hi,

I'm sorry you received this diagnosis for your baby. I can understand the
issues you are facing, because I, too, was told my baby girl had Edwards
Syndrome, T-18 and that the odds were strongly against her surviving. We
chose to continue the pregnancy, and thankfully, we were able to enjoy her
at home with us for 3 short months. She only spent 2 weeks in the hospital
after she was born. We loved her as she was, just as we loved all of our
children in whatever package they came in!

You have already received a lot of excellent advice about gathering
information and doing what is right for you and your family. Follow your
heart, as it is very clear that you love your baby very much and will make
the right decision for him

Take care.
Ceci, mom to angel Anna, T-18, 9/22/98 - 12/13/98, Maria, age 23 and on her
own, Joe, 12 years old and wife to John.

Subject: [tri-med] please help me to decide (edward's syndrome)

Hi,
I am a new member to this group. I am from Malaysia. I am 19 weeks
pregnant and I was told by my doctor 2 days ago that my baby is having
edwards syndrome. The doctor told me that the chance for the baby to
survive is very minimal. She asked me whether I want to continue the
pregnancy or just terminate the pregnancy. I am so confuse right now! I
might feel guilty if i terminate the pregnancy as i can feel the baby moving
in my tummy ; i already feel the bond between me and the baby and of course
I love him so much! But at the same time i also don't want the baby to
suffer after his birth.
I know some of u might have baby with the syndrome. may I know how is it
dealing with this baby during their birth ... does it mean that my baby will
have to be in the hospital for the rest of his life? How do u feel to see
your baby suffer with many complications? ... please share with me your
experience as it might help me to make my decision.

The doctor gives me 1-2 weeks to make up my mind. I really need your
response and advise.

Thank u very much.
