Yes, they had to go in on both sides. She has 2 incision sites on each
side, the ones at her pelvis are about 3 inches long, and the ones at the
top by her shoulder blades are about 4 inches. I'm not sure where they will
go in to lengthen the devices in April. They try to use the same incision
sites to reduce the number of scars, but the expansion points are not near
the original incisions. Poor little girl is riddled with scars on her back,
but at least it is straighter! We are fortunate in that Elanor heals
extremely well (and quickly!) and isn't prone to keloids.
That is great about Brianna's gold medal! Special Olympics is so awesome!
I bet she was thrilled! It must be nice to see her get back to life and
accomplish things like that!
Happy New Year!

Wow Jennifer...that is amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing. How long was
Elanor's incision? Is it on both sides?
Brianna(t9p, age 18) has healed well. She does have a rather large scar
though. She is keloid-prone. Shriners is watching it and has already done
some
steroid injections on other scars. She was able to participate in Special
Olympics bowling already...with a 6lb ball!! And she won a GOLD!
Happy Holidays!!
