I forgot, they only do the VEPTR on small children, to allow them to breathe
and grow until they go through the major growth spurt at puberty.  After
that, spinal fusion is usually done.  This way, the kids can grow and
develop normally before they get fusion.  It's a pretty new procedure, and
only a handful of doctors in the US perform it.  

I'm sure Brianna was too old for VEPTR (isn't it great when our kids are too
old for something!?).  I remember waiting for your posts when Bri got her
surgery!  How is she doing?
