Seems to be somewhat common due to the low tone most of our kids have. For 
the same reason some of the kiddies have problems with dislocations.

The low toned muscles, ligaments etc are weak and don't hold the joints in 
place (or spine, hence the scoliosis) properly. Kind of like an over 
stretched rubber band allowing what its holding to slip out.

Alex's thumb on one hand sometimes goes 'out' of joint/dislocates and he's 
learned how to put it 'back in' on his own. It hurts him when it dislocates.
