Michelle, thanks for the explanations.  

Double jointed is the term I'd recognise!   And only very recently I noticed
Ellie bending her wrists "up" in a way that looked as if it should be
painful but she was doing it with ease ... is hypermobility common in
triers?

LD = learning disability

hypermobile =   joints that move beyond the normal range with little effort
Some people might say 'double jointed'.
