How Michelle described the allergy testing is still the way that its done,
except now they also take blood to check how their immune system responds as
well.

The bad news on allergy testing is that its not reliable, and therefore they
don't usually do it, until after 5 or 6 years of age. Up until then you are
stuck with eliminate / expose. If its a food thats suspected you can put
them on the elimination diet (really bland stuff that has low allergy foods)
then you add one new food at a time and see what happens. With environmental
allergens like dust, animals you watch and play detective.

Aussie Alex was tested when he was young and only had two allergies - latex
and peanuts, both of which he is anaphylactic to. But now at 12 he is
suddenly developing a few new allergies - just to what I am not sure but I
suspect Mr Pussycat. He plays with our cat and starts sneezing, rubbing eyes
etc plays with my girlfriends cat and starts sneezing etc. I think its the
cat. I give Alex Claratyne - a non drowsy antihistamine. Isn't Zyrtec one of
the non-drowsy ones?

I had severe allergies until my late 20's and then they just suddenly went
away. The only thing I still react to is tomatoes and white cats (any other
cat is fine, its just white ones). Growing into and out of allergies is
quite normal.

Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well.
