Dear Denise,
I am very sorry your son has been diagnosed with t18.
I know that this is a desperately frightening and uncertain time for you and
your family.
You are doing the right thing arming yourself with information, knowledge is
power.
I live in Wales so I'm this side of the pond at least and I too found the
doctors attitude very negative after my daughter was diagnosed at 23 weeks
into my pregnancy.
I learned that I did not have to accept or agree with what the doctors told
me (and I did disagree many times!)
I wanted to give my daughter the best chance at life and if there is
anything you are not happy about then please speak up for your son.
There really is no way of knowing how long a child with t18 will live no
matter what the doctors might tell you.
You have to go with your heart and what you want for your son. If the doctor
you are with isn't prepared to support your wishes then ask to be referred
to one that will. I regret so much that I didn't do that.
I wish you well and hope you find a doctor who will help you.
