I think every Pediatrician has different recommendations.
In fact, I believe they just changed the standard for how
long babies should be breastfeed.  They now recommend
breastfeeding for one full year.

As far as solids go, most of the Peds I've talked to
recently have said don't start solids until 6 months.
Then introduce Rice cereal first.  But each child is
different as well and parents have their own ideas.
I'm sure there are young babies in Japan being raised
on Sushi :-)
