Well, you know I posted this exact question approx 5-6 weeks ago and only
one other person posted back as having had one done.
Due to the cost ($1800), esp after taking on the Sylvan payments,we decided
to hold off. After talking with a few folks around here (the kind I can
touch and see their faces! lol) and the talk on the list that your query
generated, we've decided to go ahead. After tomorrow's IEP I'll call and
make an appt. Probably during the summer.
I've been told that the neuropsych will give a clear pic of how our child's
mind works--how they learn, what will work, what won't--a map of how the
brain works for THEM. Also been told that it's a much more accurate view of
IQ. The place we investigated tests for 8 hrs (can be broken up). Since
I've only gotten the second hand info I don't have a more clear pic than
that. Apparent this dr will even attend IEP's to help you get appropriate
accommodations.
Alex's case manager from Sylvan is attending his IEP tomorrow.
I'd love to hear what you find out.
Have you talked with your new neighbor? :-)
