[tri-med] Re: my grandson Van

Thanks, Tracey. Van isn't getting the stent after all. The cardiologist says
he is stablized and wants to wait until he is four months old to do the
surgery. I guess I believe him. My daughter-in-law says she's most concerned
about the "central apnea" issue. Any info on that would be appreciated.

Van will be four weeks old on Wednesday! My son takes the night shift. He
is a home designer, working from home, so he is up til five or six am when
Van's mom takes over. She pumps her milk every three hours, except when she
sleeps. With the pumping, feeding tube, and the bit of bottle feeding when Van
is interested, feeding Van is a fulI-time job.

I asked if they would show me how to hook up Van's feeding tube, but they
want to do all the feeding themselves. So I get to hold and rock him, change
his diapers, and help bathe him.

By the way, I love your Charles Schultz quote.

  Take care,

  Dear Shea,
Being a nurse and the mother of a Trisomy 18 baby I understand where this
nurse was coming from, I guess her method wasn't very good. However, as you
can see some children with T13 survive way longer than 4 weeks and this
nurse was only sharing her experiences. I hope that Van's surgery for the
stent goes well and that he will be home to enjoy his Mum & Dad very
quickly.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end tomorrow it's already tomorrow
