Sharon,
This is what a genetic counselor once told me and I think statistics will bear
this out: The life expectancy is shortened, but by how much is determined by
the health of every individual. A shortened life span might mean 30 yrs. old
rather than 60yrs. or some other number rather than what is the normal life
span. Generally, this is because when you have a chromosome anomaly things
will eventually start to go wrong, but when is something that no one can
predict. I don't necessarily believe size has anything to do with it, only
that a child that is not underweight and healthy is better able to fight off
many illnesses simply because they have the reserve to do so that some smaller
kiddos might not have. Again, this is not going to be true in every single
case. I think the drs. don't tell you anything because they truly don't know.
?You have no right to argue with your Creator. You are
merely a clay pot shaped by a potter.
The clay doesn?t ask, ?Why did
you make me this way??? (Isaiah 45:9 CEV).
