[tri-med] karen, about ABR test

<<They may not be able to see in, but they can still test her
hearing............>>

It is my choice at this point Karen. The only test that will be valid with
Faren is the ABR and they use an anesthetic for this test. Why should they
put her under when the results may not be accurate due to the small canals?
They did have her under for eye surg in July. An ear dr went in to look
into her canals to check for fluid, but supposively found none. Don't think
he could really see in. I don't know why they couldn't do the ABR then. My
point here is that, the last time Faren had an anesthetic, we had to stay at
the hospital for the night cause it took a long time for it to wear off and
her sats(?) were only in the 80's. I think they were just being really
precaucious cause of her t18. Doesn't bother me none. She had an ABR when
she was in the NICU and her right ear was fine, but her left ear supposively
had a defecit. This cannot be considered valid though because of her tiny
tiny canals. SOOOOO, I guess I'll just wait til she's bigger and try again
then cause only the ABR will work for her. ATleast at this point anyway.
The other tests would not be good for her cause she most likely would not
respond to sounds on command. I know the child can hear though, maybe not
as well as she should in her left ear due to the small canal.
