[tri-med] Re: heart surgery

Pam we are just amazed that doctors think they can put a time on our children's
lives. Here's a little story that happened to Paul's dad in 1985 in a hospital
in TORONTO. He was in need of a triple by pass when a nurse came in and said
there were no available beds and dad would have to go home and wait for his
surgery. Then the doctor came in and talked to Paul his brother and two
sisters and told them if their dad went home he would die. Paul asked him why
he would say that and he told them that it had happened the week before to a 34
year old father of two little girls. He said today as I stand here his wife is
a widow and his children have no father. Now the doctor is crying and he tells
them that he will deny saying it but his advice to them was to go to the
director of the hospital and tell him they want the surgery for their dad or
they are going to the radio station and every newspaper in Toronto. Dad had
surgery the next morning. We need to fight for our child
ren and I believe that they know in their hearts that it is not the right
answer. No one can be that cruel. I have a friend here that is from Quebec
and I was telling her about it this morning and she is a lawyer. Her face
dropped and she said if that was my son I would threaten them with legal
action. Your son deserves EVERY chance to have a full life. All of our
children do no one person can tell us how long they will be with us. I will
keep you and your husband in my prayers on Wed.
