Hey Karen,
The cardiologist's office is faxing over paperwork
right now, when we saw him July 04, it was a 'benign
heart murmur that millions of people walk around daily
with and I don't forsee it as life threatening to
Genevieve', the exam was normal and the sec said it
didn't have the cause, but maybe from the echo doplar
report it would say. We were just relieved and felt
good that all was okay.
We have a new ped dr and got Genevieve in yesterday
for full blown physical as a base line for him to
proceed, went over the entire history and then he
listens to her heart, he asked about if we noticed any
blueness to her(Fawna's post mentioned that too), I
haven't, he said she has a 'significant heart murmur'
I said "which means?" He began asking me the questions
you asked Karen(you should become a doctor you know :
)told him I honestly didn't know because I always
thought it was a benign thing and not something to
worry about.(He did a fine job in reversing that) So
he is to get ahold of the cardiologist, go over the
records/tests and get back with us. I am really hoping
this new doctor is being overly cautious, which I
appreciate in many ways, but the worry if not needed,
adds more stress to a calm. All previous drs were like
'yep, she has a murmur' and never did more. She has
been doing so awesome of late.
Didn't know the loud/soft issues. I don't think it was
ever a hole in her heart. Just didn't know if a
murmur(sorry on not knowing which kind)that is
'benign' could become worse? Appreciate the
experiences ya all have shared, questions, and as soon
as we hear more will post...
>What is the cause of the murmur? A hole in the heart?
A valve leaking? There are many types and therefore
causes of heart murmurs. In what way do you mean worse?
Do you mean louder? Or do you mean softer? - Many
people think that because they can't hear the murmur
anymore that it must be getting better but actually
its usually the opposite - a murmur that can't be
heard anymore or thats markedly softer can be a sign
that the condition is now much worse.
Sorry I would need more info before I could comment on
a specific.
>> Curious if a heart murmur can get worse? Anybody
experience this?
