Hi all!
Just need some advice/tips for some friends of ours. Their son, Jared,
is going in next week for a g-tube placement and he'll have to have the
mic-key extension tube at first (until things heal up) before he can
get the button. Jared is two years old, but still very small (he's
adopted and has fetal alcohol syndrome)--seventeen pounds--just can't
take in enough food. Anyway, in many other respects he's a "typical"
two-year-old. He's very active and curious. Our friends' concern is
that he'll play with, yank at, explore his extension, and cause all
sorts of probs for himself. Have any of you run into this? Are there
any good tips I can give her to keep little hands off? We didn't have
this problem with Keren for the two months she had the extension
because she wasn't nearly active or curious enough for it to be a
problem.
Thanks for tips in advance!
Loren (wife to Kraig, mom to Keren, T18, 11 mo. and counting! :) )
