I need some help figuring out why Morgan still has so much granulation tissue
around his g-tube. He has had it for over a year and a half now and the
granulation tissue still constantly forms. He is using a mic-key 18 French
3.5. Last spring I had him to the surgeon's office to check it out and he
decided it was due to the position of the button (it rests in a crease between
two, ummmmm how can I put this delicately?, fat rolls) So, we changed button
size from 18 Fr 3.0 to the 3.5. This new size is definitely loose, but it
seemed to help at first. I asked about using cortisone for the granulation
tissue and got in trouble by the dr. for asking such a question. He told me
under no circumstances was I to put cortisone cream on that site. So, I have
been using the silver nitrate, which hurts Morgan like he**. I am doing it
once a week. If I don't do it the tissue gets very sore and bleeds. I am
stuck between a rock and a hard place with this issue. Now, I am questioning
could he be allergic to the button? Or, is it possible there is an infection
in there they doesn't clear up? (There is an almost constant yellowish,
greenish discharge.) Help!
