HI:
Could anyone tell me what causes granulation tissue around the button?and could
it happen anytime and not necessarily right away. Pamela has had a button
since she was 9 months old and just this past few months she is having
difficulties with her button. She is now 11. We have also changed from a
Mickey to a Nutriport and it is not as easy to put in or out as it's more
pliable, the stem is not as stiff. Anyway when I remove it she is in pain and
it bleeds, which it never did before. There is always a slight discharge ,
sticky sometimes yellow, crusty in the a.m. The nurse clinician figures it's
granulation tissue. Well obviously it's inside as I don't see anything visible
on the outside. I'm wondering if Pamela's worsening of her scoliosis is
causing irritation. I've had to get a longer button as it was really hard to
access as her skin is all folding over top of it, now this one sticks way out
but it's easier to deal with. Anyone have any comments, suggestions??? before
I go see the Doctor.
Thanks
