(Our daughter Kelly (T13) who
just turned 3 last week just had swallow and GI tests that showed aspiration
and reflux. A fundo and peg/feeding tube is being recommended)
Hi Valerie,
Nicholas had a fundo done when he was 6 years old due to reflux. We tried
meds...it helped a little. When he had the upper GI test, it showed a
malrotated bowel. So, they decided to do surgery right away for the malrotated
bowel and also did the fundo at the same time. Since it was a more involved
surgery, Nick had an epidural for 3 days. He was very comfortable. Then we
went on the hernia roller coaster! The surgery weakened his abdominal area and
he had 4 hernia surgeries. We finally took him to St. Louis Children's and
they put an Alloderm patch in (natural patch not synthetic). So far, so good.
The g-tube was the best thing we did. If he's sick or falls asleep before
supper, I just give it to him by tube!
.
Happy 3rd birthday Kelly. Send me a picture of Kelly please!
