Rachael,
We noticed that our 2 year old grandson was having a hard time
with his eyes. They would vier off in opposite directions sometimes
and cross at others. It wasn't very often, but his mother and I were
both really concerned about it. (My mother-in-law had the same
problem.) At his 3rd year well visit to the pediatrician the doctor
did some checking and suggested that they see an eye doctor. I
'think' that my d-i-l took him to an ophthalmologist, but I cannot be
positive about that.

Anyway, I would agree with Michelle and recommend that, too. They
had him wearing a patch (a cool one, not like the one my son or my
siblings had to wear.) His eyes continued to get worse. He is now
just over 4 and has been 'bifocals' for almost 9 months. He is
doing much better and knows how much they help. He doesn't put up
any resistance when asked to go get his glasses. And it is amazing
what can happen when he can see and not feel like he is doing
something wrong. BTW, his sister got her glasses at about 5.5 and is
doing well with them, too. She also wore a patch over her glasses
for a while. I don't know what the diagnosis is for either of the
kids, but I do know that I'm really glad that my son and d-i-l took
them in to get them checked out. I'm hoping that they turn out as
well as my son's eyes did just because we caught it early. But they
look so grown up and cute with their glasses, and they enjoy the
praise for wearing them.
Good luck!
