You poor thing - never again will you pretend to be Mary Poppins!!!!

Traumatic dislocations like that hurt because you usually end up tearing the
joint capsule. And you would have torn yours good and proper, along with a
lot of muscle fibres. This is what is painful, not the dislocation itself.

I am guessing that Jonathon's hip has dislocated because it has slowly
slipped out of the joint over time. When this happens its not usually
painful because there is no tearing or trauma. Its no more painful than
watching Alex do his double jointed moves (still makes my stomach roll when
I watch Aussie Alex do this with various joints - it LOOKS painful to me)
