Hi All,
Faith my 7 year old was dx'd with Acute anxiety disorder, stress from the
custody/divorce,
it amazes me how children can endure it, some of her stresses has caused
sleeping issues,
nightmares, major meltdowns.... well back in June they started her on
Clondine, we got her
heart tested prior to show a base line and started her on .1mg, jus half a
tablet a day. Not
showing much improvement, bumped her up to half a tablet in the a.m. and
half a tablet an
hour before bedtime.
At bedtime, she would lay there for awhile before conking out so they added
melatonin
and we have the perfect combo now. There are some days when she may get
tired in the
afternoon and rest or sleep for a half hour to hour, but shoot I'm closing
in on 40 and do the
same LOL She'll have the occasional nightmare (very vivid, not sure side
effect of the melatonin)
maybe 1-2 a week, but not every night. Sleeps better, wakes restful most
days, but behavior
issues outside of norm 7 yr old have calmed consideribly here at my house.
It is my understanding
there are some issues that happen at her dad's including regressed to
pottying her pants at times...
They told us the clonidine was used to calm VietNam vets who were 'stressed'
and that it
does effect your blood pressure whether you miss a dose or not. We take her
in every 2-3 weeks
for her pressure to be taken and they listen to her heart. Minor things
compared to her behaviors
that were happening....
Funny though... it was always Genevieve who needed more 'help', Faith was
always the
healthy strong one and now the roles are reversing somewhat, Genevieve
talking, "no way"
being the latest verbal combo....
But I give clonidine a thumbs up for our house : )
