{can you tell my why ICU after the second surgery?}
I asked the surgeon that same question. Now, this surgeon is a smart a**. He
said, "Because he was sick as hell". He was septic and he got pneumonia was
the second answer he gave me. Nicholas was never on a vent after any other
surgery nor did he ever have pneumonia before, so he might have aspirated due
to the blockage that caused the pneumonia.
{How long was it before Nicholas had this issues with the scar tissue??}
He had the malrotation fixed when he was 6 and the latest surgery when he was
10.
{Wonder how backed up his system was. Dr.
says my cecum was the size of a large grapefruit.}
The surgeon said he had to make an incision in the intestine just to relieve
the pressure, so I think it was quite large.
{Did Nicholas loose weight after his surgeries?}
Surprisingly, not much. A couple pounds at the most. He has a g-tube, which
saved him. He usually eats pureed foods by mouth.
{Any chance Nicholas will have the scaring again?}
I'll bet there's always a chance, but good grief, I hope not. His poor belly
can't take another abdominal surgery. He has had that site opened at least 6
times for surgeries and hernia repairs. We had to use a "wound vac" on him
last time to help with the incisional healing. It took 30 days to heal.
