I agree.
I know when Alex was born and those first few years when we were dealing
with more issues than we do now (blessed we are!) I did that too (and still
do but not as often now).

Used to make Jim MAD that I'd be "pessimistic" because he'd only contemplate
the best scenario.

For me it was a self-defense mode. If things were bad then I'd already
expected them and it didn't knock me down. But if things went better than
anticipated it was a surprise bonus and extra special.  It made me less
vulnerable to hurting emotionally.

Playing mind games with myself I guess! lol
