Indeed, NEVER, Fawna!
Is conservatorship the same as guardianship? We went through that
process back when Jo turned 18. Boni, I and daughter Mary are all Jo's legal
guardians, with his sister as standby. The Association for the Help of
Retarded
Citizens did most of the heavy lifting there pulling all together - we just had
to show up in court - where our case was pushed up as Joanna had a big smelly
BM in the midst of about a hundred lawyers. We being good parents tried to
look very innocent gazing around wondering where that odor was originating.
AHRC has taken Jo under their wing since early intervention at about 6 months,
school until 18, and now day habilitation. They have sheltered workships for
those capable of that, and a room for old timers just to be part of the group
and give their caretakers a break.
Good luck on the all the Dr''s visits/paperwork/testing, etc. Flow
charts rule me life!
