[tri-med] Re: applying for a med waiver - Linda/Jayne - to Michelle

<<Hey Jayne, does Illinois offer a med waiver?? What else does Illinois
offer. YOu know, our service coordinator for EI offered to get us a social
worker, I suppose I should look into that cause he/she could help me with
all of this.

I have asked more families in Illinois than I can count about the med waiver
in Illinois. Not one family gets it - they say Illinois doesn't have one.
At last year's SOFT conference, there was a seminar on benefits and the guy
looked up Illinois for me and said Illinois did not have a med waiver.
However, Karen showed me a web site for med waivers and it says Illinois has
a waiver for medically fragile children at the University of Illinois. I'm
going to have to call them and find out what that's about.
the site is http://medicaid.aphsa.org/waivers/1915ctab3.htm

Have you looked into DSCC yet? I can get you the number if you need it.

Also, the Philip J. Rock foundation has someone that can assess Faren on
vision and hearing. They come to your house. They pay for one free vision
appt. You also get one free weekend in northern Illinois (usually in July)
every year. They pay for 1 night stay, breakfast, and a lunch and all the
seminars. They even babysit for you free while you attend the seminars and
a parent night out. Faren would definitely qualify because of her trisomy
18 dx.
