[tri-med] Re: any ideas/Penny

Hi Laurie :o)
Vail Beds are definitely NOT for a 2 year old!!!! Way too small. Devon was
well over 70 pounds, if memory serves, when we got the bed. And even though
he DID get stuck in it once...we learned you're not supposed to leave the
head or foot of the bed raised up. PLUS we now have pool noodles under the
head of it in case he gets curious again. But we haven't had any problems
since...and we have the updated guidelines from the factory as well. Like I
said though...it's not for everyone but for us...it's great :o) They make
cribs...but #1 they look like a tiger cage and very institutional looking. I
hated them on sight :o( I went to look at one that was offered to me for
free from a residential facility near me...and they have steel
bars...literally...and although it had a top to it to make it completely
inescapable...they're not allowed to have the tops on them anymore. I just
couldn't even fathom putting him in a steel "cage". To me...the Vail bed
looks like a big tent/camper type thing...not nearly so institutional
looking. Not that the looks should matter all that much...but it did to us
:o) We were also scared to death that it would be something Devon would have
to learn to be ok in. But he loved it from night one :o)
