Penny-
Thanks for the info! I will definately look into those meds. Yes, clonodine
knocks Haiden out within30 minutes of taking it and he is fighting it the whole
time until he conks out. But, he then falls asleep. He, too is on the lowest
dose. If we didnt give him that he would be up until who knows when. We tried
strattera for Haiden and it seemed to work, however, after a couple weeks he
became very emotional and then started hitting himself, which is something he
never does. The Dr had mentioned again a trial with strattera and the
clonodine, but I didn't think trying the strattera again was a good idea.
Haiden has such a loving personality and great sense of humor and I don't want
to take that away from him. I am glad that strattera is working for Devon,
though. Is he more calm and able to focus? My friends son takes it, too. He has
autism and adhd. It has done "wonders" for him she tells me. When we took
Haiden to Mayo, the psychiatrist there suggested doing
certain lab tests if trials with Ritalin didn't work. I guess they measure
the amount of serotonin and dopamine in your brain. We are hopefully going to
get those done soon. It would be interesting to know if there is a difference
in the levels in his brain. Again, thanks for the info, I will talk to Haidens
pediatrician next week at his appointment.

Hi Thea...
You may want to look into Trazodone and /or Melatonin. Devon does not have
t9...he has t13...but we finally cried uncle on the disordered sleep when he
was 7 yrs old...he's been on it ever since. He still goes to sleep between 6
and 7 PM...I give him his 50mg Trazodone and 3 mg Melatonin at around
8:45-9:15 when I change him one more time before bed and then I sleep walk
him into bed around 9:30 from the couch. He sleeps until until anywhere
between 4:30 -6 AM. Many kids with genetic disorders such as our kids have
don't make enough Melatonin on their own.
