[tri-med] Re: a second child with a trisomy?

I just wanted to say that, unless the trisomy is inherited (due to a
balanced translocation on a parent) the chances are very rare for a second
trisomy child.
I was SO scared when I was pregnant with Kallie that lightening would strike
twice. I actually decided to go with the "ignorance is bliss" route and I
did not search for stories or information regarding parents who went on to
have another trisomy child. I felt if I knew too much information about
parents who had multiple trisomy children, it would make me sick with worry
that it could happen again for me as well. I had minimal prenatal testing
as well. Luckily, ignorance was bliss, because I enjoyed my pregnancy (with
only the occasional freak-out that something could be wrong) and Kallie was
healthy.
