[tri-med] Re: Well...we finally have some answers

Hi Barbara...right back atcha!!!
Well...we tried a CD player before but Devon doesn't like just any kind head
phones...VERY picky. We noticed that he will wear those big clunky Princess
Leah looking head phones at school to listen to stories...he refuses to wear
the little ear buds, or the smaller head phones or the behind the ear
kind...believe me...we've tried them all!!! He WILL however tolerate the
Koss or Sony or Maxell ones that have the "noise cancellation" big Princess
Leah head phones with the soft leatherette cushioned ear pieces that
completely go around the outer shell of his ears. I would do anything to
keep him happier when we take him to doctors or stores...or anywhere where
we need to take his mind off sitting in his stroller or me making him hold
my hand :o) I can't take credit for the idea but I sure did run with it when
she suggested it!!! It was Megan (his behavior therapist) that suggested the
Shuffle. Nick was funny...he was like, " but mom...the Shuffle only holds
about 250 songs!!!". He has a Nano that holds more than that. But Devon's
tastes are simple...he likes bear, hand clapping songs and hard rock and
hard core alternative...the more chaotic the better :o) Anyway...Nick has
been finding and loading the songs for us :O) He's a pretty good judge of
what Devon likes...but if he's not sure he asks us :o) Devon's got lots of
Sean Paul, Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera's "Candy"...things like that
:o) We're still looking for Green Jelly's hard core version of "The Three
Little Pigs". It's funny really...if you ever find it to listen to...it
sounds like a very angry young man yelling, "LITTLE PIG! LITTLE PIG!...LET
ME IN!!...NOT BY THE HAIR OF MY CHINNY CHIN CHIN!!!! Devon just falls all
over himself smiling and laughing!!!! I can't help thinking that he
remembers the elementary graduation assembly where he took part in the
entertainment. They did a kind of funny bluesy sort of rap version of the
Three Little Pigs!!! He wore Stevie Wonder dark glasses with a pig snout
attached and short blue jean overalls :o) It was adorable!!!!! My face hurt
I smiled so much...cried a little too...I was so proud of my little pig!!!
He gets so excited he just can't stand or sit still when he hears something
that REALLY pleases him...he starts clapping and flexing his legs and
bouncing like a fool!!!!
