[tri-med] Re: Welcome, Erin

Hi!
Chris has brought up a point I want to comment on.

One of my big "WHAT IFs" in regards to Caroline's feedings was
breastfeeding. Caroline was in the NICU and then CICU after her birth
pending heart surgery (that never actually was needed (ugh)). They
restricted her feedings and I was so overwhelmed over the entire
pregnancy/delivery that I didn't push it, but I WISH like CRAZY that I tried
breastfeeding more and made a bigger deal of it to the drs and nurses. I am
a huge bf advocate, but I didn't try hard enough with Caroline. Granted,
sitting in the NICU isn't the best and most comfortable situation for
breastfeeding, but I only tried once....and that was when she was already
over a day old and she was sleepy and uninterested. I started pumping bm
for her the night she was born and continued for over a year. She got all
bm for the first year and then I started weaning her onto formula. She had
a great suck and swallow and I regret I didn't give her a better chance at
breastfeeding, if it worked, it "may" have made my life a little easier.

Anyway, just one of my many "what if's"........

Take Care,

Irene
