RIGHT ON!!!!!
Karen, I'm going to copy this and use it at our next IEP on NOV 4th....
Our fight seems to be she is cognitively low...so they don't feel she
should get specific services and I feel, if she's low than give them to
her and lets see where she''ll go...at least for this year...and the
last two years, they certainly didn't do us any favors with her
program.
My daughter is in no way talking....But the last week, I have heard
three vocal sounds that sound pretty appropriate for the situation and
the time I heard them...I get so excited...only to not hear them
again...
"DRINK"
"HOLD ME"
"PICK UP"
When Natalia was about two I had a list of about 15 words/sounds that
were appropriate for the situation...and then some shots,
surgeries...and nothing...We've gotten some real good humming of tunes
to 1-4 songs, yet the only consistent word is MA-MA--
I was sharing this with someone recently , and now to hear her come up
with these sounds is really exciting...We have a long long way to go
but every little change in growth excites me...
