Mitchell too has had problems with a distended stomach-his was due to
different things-feeding, just getting too much air in because of the cleft
and also if he was in the hospital and they had to bag him lots his stomach
would get distended. He doesn't have a G-tube so we put an NG tube down-he
had that in for a long time so we could get the extra air out-we would vent
it or just take a syringe and pull out the stomach contents along w/the air
until we couldn't pull back anymore. This really seemed to help-his
breathing was really being affected by it because the stomach wouldn't allow
him to get enough air in his lungs because it was pushing up. We saw an
x-ray and his stomach was HUGE. I would say 4 Xs it's normal size-if not
more.
I will continue to keep Lauren in my prayers. If they are needing to give
her breaths w/the amboo bag-this could really cause a distended stomach.
Take care
Katie
