Georgiann,

When Mari was in the hospital with pneumonia the same thing happened to her.
One of the few times to be thankful she had a g-tube.  We just vented her;
opened up her g-tube. All this disgusting brown stuff came out. We kept it
draining for the next week or so. Is the air in her stomach or intestines?

A couple of months later, she went back into the hospital for a high fever.
Her x-rays showed an ileus. The docs thought hers was a "paralytic ileus,
,<which> occurs because peristalsis stops. Peristalsis is the rhythmic
contraction that moves material through the bowel. Ileus is most often
associated with an infection of the peritoneum (the membrane lining the
abdomen). It is one of the major causes of bowel obstruction in infants and
children."

Not sure if this helps? I'm praying for Lauren & your family.

Blessings,
