[tri-med] Re: UPDATE Hannah on her way to the doctor

We got to the doctor with Hannah's fever up to 101+. They ended up doing
lots of things to her. First they checked her O2 levels. It started out low
but climbed and held steady around 95-96. Because she was having some
respiratory difficulties they did a breathing treatment (which really
seemed to help. She fell asleep and you couldn't even hear her breath.)
They took blood and tried to take a urine sample. She was not about to put
up with the catheter and showed them that by peeing as soon as they swabbed
her! They got a little but had to do it again a little later. The second
time she was bone dry! Not a drop. We pointed out that she had been due for
her "breakfast" at 9 and hadn't gotten it because of this visit. So the
doctor said to go ahead an hook her up and give her some time to get things
moving again. (We needed to do that before she could give Hannah the
antibiotic shot.) She also said that if we wanted to one of us could go
get something to eat and bring it back to the office. (By now it was close
to noon) so Donn went to Sonic, which is nearby, and was back with
breakfast/lunch in about 10-15 minutes. After letting her process her
brunch they finally got a sample on the third attempt and we could all see
that there was something it.
Next was the shot. I can't remember at the moment what exactly it was (it
started with an R) but they said it was something that, no matter what the
patient, a child or a big adult, they ALWAYS divide it into two shots.
Evidently it's pretty dense and can do tissue damage. We had to hang around
for 20 minutes but she did fine and we FINALLY left there at 1:15 and have
to go back again tomorrow at 4.

I'm tired.
