Sometimes she has that pitiful "I don't feel good"
look in her eyes. So far no report on the allergy tests. The last chest
x-ray looked fine, They have changed the antibiotic yet again after extended
study of the pseudomonas culture showed that the new one should get it. And
she either pulled out IV #2 or it blew and started leaking during the night
so they removed it totally and are now giving her meds through the g-tube.
She was down to 1 1/2 liters of O2 early this morning and afternoon, until
about 1:30 pm. Donn raised it to 2 1/2 then because she was dropping again.
We have an explaination for the change in her breathing sounds now that
actually sounds reasonable and could explain why she can't tolerate heavier
feeds at night. Dr. Simpson said that since her muscles are so tense during
the day and she relaxes so much at night it could be that at night her
throat relaxes and, since she sleeps on her back, the secretions can
actually just naturally flow down into her stomach. And since that is going
there along with the food we can't add extra food at night because we'd be
overfilling her! It actually makes sense! But now we need to make sure she
doesn't sleep on her belly since that would fill up her lungs if this is
really what is going on. For some reason it seems like she runs a fever
every other day. But we have no clue why. They keep getting snall
chunks when suctioning so looks like the plugs are dislodging. We still have
a heck of a time keeping the canula in place. We are taping it pretty
seriously but it gets so wet so fast... Don't know what to do there either.
Ok... Now she is breaking her pattern of every other day and is now running
what "they" call a low grade fever of 99.2. It was 99.5 about 45 minutes
ago. But we just call it a fever since her norm is 97.5-6. We'll see what it
is in an hour or so. Hopefully it will be lower still.

The antibiotic they are giving her, cipro, isn't supposed to be given with
milk products so they are stopping her feed now and will give her the drugs
(the cipro and her lasix) in an hour then leave the feed off for another
hour before restarting it.

Donn said she got absolutely frantic last night for some reason. He has no
idea why. And she kept sticking her tongue WAY out. They want to keep an eye
on her for a couple more days but it sounds like we might be home by the
weekend. She was a bit frantic a little bit ago but I talked to ehr and
stroked her hair for about 10 minutes and she fell asleep.

Tonight is my night at the hospital. Tomorrow Donn will get here early as he
and I have back to back doctor's appointments in the morning. He'll bring
Zach with so he can sit with Hannah. I told him that we needed to make these
appointments because he has been having some odd gut pains and my feet and
ankles have been swelling. We'll see what she says.
