We too got the first 'contact' info of the test results over the phone. It
took me a while to absorb what the genetic councilor was saying as I kept
walking circles around the kitchen (no portable phones then in our household
and I was tethered to a cord). I was looking at Alex laying on the living
room floor and circling the kitchen.

She would NOT let me off the phone and I kept trying. It wasn't until I
started crying that she finally let me go.

I was watching for Jim to get home from work. He'd pulled into the garage
and I stuck my head out the back door and wailed his name. I've never seen
the man run so fast.
He said that the tone of my voice was like an animal caught in a trap and it
scared the crap out of him.

For a while I was miffed that we got the info over the phone. But later it
was a 'good' thing. We had time to process information a bit so that we had
our initial emotional chaos out of the way before we went to the appointment
with the geneticist.
