I was preg for Molly and the crib was really still working for Alex.
Jim and I had some discussions on what/how to proceed with the process of
making sure the new wee one had a bed. :0)

She slept in the bassinette in our room for a few months. But before she was
born we went shopping to get Alex's new night time digs.

We ended up getting a water bed. The higher sides keep a child from rolling
out. They have to WORK at getting up and over, it would be tough to fall out
accidentally.

It was comical how tiny Alex was (the size of a 24 month old) in this bed.

Alex was mobile and aware enough that we didn't have any worries about his
getting 'stuck' in the side of the bed. Again, he'd have had to work at it.

When Molly was approx. 9 months old I found Alex in the crib with her one
afternoon. He'd heard her awake from her nap and went to visit. It was the
absolute FIRST time he'd ever climbed more than a few steps. I still don't
know how he did it.

Gotta reiterate, Molly was the BEST therapy for Alex in terms of motivating
him to try things.
