[tri-med] Re: The Honest Truth About T-18

Ya Hoo Linda...I loved your closing titles...made me laugh outloud...as you
are not alone in those titles...I too wear all three titles well!

Well stated letter...I believe there are many of us on this list who have
been to the far reaches of the universe for our children, have succeeded in
giving them the best care, and have educated ourselves and others along the
way. Our stories may be different, yet similar in many ways too, and all
are equally important for the details and information that we can give to
each other as well as the support we share.

AS for SOFT...I believe if it had not been for the parent networking that
SOFT shared and allowed to occur, that Karen Schuler would not have learned
about SOFT and some of the other parents, but you can bet that SOFT had
nothing to do with setting up a list serv for families to share, that was
all Karen and her wonderful love for others. Karen's strength and her
compassion for all of our trisomy families led her to start a list for
families. She had a vision and without her determination, this list would
not of occurred and would not still be up and running today. Karen deserves
all the credit for families being able to make contact with another person
who understands the world of trisomy life
within minutes of getting on the world wide web. SOFT still remains a good
resource in the information field for families who may not want to extend
theirselves to a actual person or voice on the other end, and for some of
the other things that they stand for, but I believe with all my heart that
more is shared through this list and the relationships that have been
created by its existence than anything that SOFT has been able to do through
newsletters or conferences.
Some may not share my view points on the matter, but after almost 10 years
of dealing with the facets of trisomy 18, having knowledge of SOFT and this
list since it's beginning, I believe I am right.

Ok, off my soap box.
Linda I am glad you are back here and I too am outspoken and disliked at
times..but I don't care. I speak the truth and that is what matters in the
long run.

Take care,

Deborah Salter
