>>>and kids rarely die of measles or mumps anymore.
there may not be as many deaths but encephalitis is a horrible side effect.
AND why do you think we don't see as many measles/mumps related deaths
anymore? well by golly it's because of vaccinations!! thousands of children
used to die every year from diphtheria and whooping cough and many more
still do die from whooping cough. I saw a case of a boy with measles who
ended up in a wheelchair unable to talk or walk anymore and incontinent of
urine and faeces. He also became violent towards his mother he was in
hospital for weeks being stabilised and then rehabilitated into home again.
>>>I just think the government and medical community tend to be too militant
>>>in the issue. Chicken >>>pox, for example. Really, do you know anyone
>>>who has died from chicken pox?
well yes I have known a newborn who died from varicella infection which was
passed on by a support person to the mother during labour. We in the
medical community may be militant about immunisation but we have seen the
wholesale benefits that they have afforded first world countries over the
years.
>>Flu shots--everybody I know who gets the flu shot (except Elanor-go
>>figure) gets the flu.
well yes I agree with you on flu shots IMHO they are a waste of time for the
general population but for 'our' kids and medically fragile kids ie CF, CP
and the elderly they are really good.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end tomorrow it's already tomorrow
