Yes - actually a number of children with T-18 have ended up with
encephalitis from chicken pox and subsequently died. Kari Halliday was one.
And thats why I am so paranoid with Alex around chicken pox. As soon as the
vaccine was released here Alex got it - unfortunately his titres for chicken
pox are marginal at best so the paranoia continues. Actually his titres for
many of his vaccinations are marginal.

Well you can count us in on the "havent had the flu" folk. We have had colds
here (and they have been minimal) but no flu ever since Alex and I started
to get the flu vaccine every year. Alex is IgA deficient (something that has
been reported in a number of kids with chromosome18 problems) and that makes
him extremely vulnerable to chest infections. But we have had precious
little since we started vaccinations and other precautions on a regular
basis. He also is on a special list for washed blood products if they are
ever needed as a result.

As with

Agreed - my second daughter caught measles when she was 10 months old and
ended up with meningitis. We suspect that that was left her with epilepsy
and mild CP. My step daughter was anti vaccination with her son. He was NOT
vaccinated but he still has severe autism...............
Count me in on the vaccination route until they prove that its dangerous,
and in my very humble opinion they havent.
