Penny,
This sounds just like Brendan, he also had a swallow study done twice to see
how well he could handle feedings. The therapist was great, she took her
time and was very aware of all Brendans difficulties. She reccommended that
we continue with the feedings but very cautiously, unfortunately Brendan did
get pneumonia and at the time thought it was from the oral feeds, so we
stopped them, When he got pnuemmonia againwe fiigures out it was from his
reflux and put him on a continuous feed which means that he is not hungry for
the oral feeds. Hopefully we might be able to start them again someday. He
coughs as much now I think that he is pooling his saliva and reading your
post made it seem clearer that that is what is happening, oh but does it
scare the poop out of my husband when he does it.
