If they DON'T do the surgery what will happen?
What are the risks? Short and long term.
What does your gut say? That's generally a pretty good indicator.
How's your hubby feel about it all?

Excellent way to go!
And it helps if you can have another pair of ears there to process info with
you and think of other questions. Jim's gone to every "major" appt for Alex
since birth.

Also, do you have copies of the reports and records involved in this
decision? If you don't you might want to get them. Read them over and it may
spark other thoughts or questions you have for the dr.

In fact, having copies of all tests results/reports is a great way to
coordinate things down the road. Saves a lot of time trying to get them
later (or not being able to get them later because the file went "inactive"
or the dr quit practicing (like our first ped endo did).
