Yazmin,

Be careful with the Dilaudid! A hospital just managed to OD my mom on that
one last
week. It's stored in the fat. And believe me, my mom has a LOT of capacity
to store
that kind of a drug. They'd sent her home 3 days post surgery still groggy,
not eating
or drinking well, hadn't had a bowel movement yet (in fact impacted), and
very little
output from her catheter either. So since she wasn't eating, she started
metabolizing
her fat reserve, which dumped stored Dilaudid back into her system, making
her even
groggier and eating less. And around and around it went, until she was
absolutely
comatose by day 3 at home. My dad called the paramedics, who gave her a
dose of
Narcaine (an anti narcotic drug) which made her lucid for 45 minutes,
confirming that
it was indeed a drug over dose they were dealing with. So back to the
hospital for 3 or
4 more days. And she's back at home again now, eating and drinking & bodily
functioning,
but unable to weight bare anymore, or even sit in her wheel chair without
sliding out.
