You have pin pointed my first experience looking into
schools for Faren. We were given 2 choices between
different special needs schools. The first one had
some nice things about it, but when the person giving
me the tour opened the door to the class Faren would
be in, I was freaked imediately!! There were like 12
or so kids in the class, most of them mobile. The
kids were loud and one was throwing things everywhere.
Like I said, most of them walked and I think one girl
looked about 8 or 9! I just couldn't see my faren
being able to lay on the floor without getting hurt.
There was a teacher and 3 aides. I asked the teacher
if she was the teacher and she said "unfortunately".
Ok? The aides were not talking very nice to the kids
I didn't think. One kid was facing the wall when I
walked in. They said that that wasn't a normal day,
but the only day I show up it's like that? No way did
I feel comfortable sending her there. Luckily, the
second school was awesome! There are only like 5-6
kids in her class from about 3-6 yrs old. Most are
not actively mobile. The room was quiet. The teacher
was nice and quiet(of course she had less kids than
the other teacher). I pretty much decided that day
that that's where she'd go. It just seemed like a
much better environment for her and I'm sure she's
getting way more one on one than she would have at the
other school.
