Jude - and anyone else who may have experience - was your Ronald McDonald
house a nice facilty?
Irene,
We have stayed in one in Cincinnati, OH & the one in Dayton, OH. They are both
awesome. They are newer facilities with private baths in each room. No
TV....but several nice TV rooms. Library areas stocked with games, puzzles,
magazines, newspapers, and computers with internet services.
A fully stocked common kitchen with storage areas (cold/dry) for private food,
laundry facilities, playrooms (indoors & out), etc.. Both of the facilities
are right across the street from the hospitals, so walking during the day is
okay (at night---the shuttle service is better). We also found that the
hospital security staff was more than willing to transport us across the street
as well.
Several organizations bring hot food to the kitchen each evening and the
leftovers go in a common fridge for all to share. It was nice for the late
nights that we staggered back to our rooms.....hungry!
We've had great experiences at both these Ronald McDonald houses.
Best Wishes,
Chris (mama to Mari, full T18, dob 8/24/01)
