[tri-med] Re: Refoel update

Arthur,
It is so good to hear from you, even though it means you are back in
the hospital. How wonderful that Refoel is doing as well as he has
been--we'll continue to pray that he does well!

Sounds like you have learned A LOT these past few months. I'm very
glad that the decisions you made were the best for Refoel, too. You
were right on about why he was having problems breathing, weren't you!
How wonderful that he hasn't needed intubation again!!!

I'm sure others will respond to this too, and we have only limited
experience here. Keren had central apneas her first three days of
life, but since then has only struggled with obstructive apnea, and
only when asleep. We have her on a CPAP at night for that, and that
helps there. Her "sleep doctor" has said that if the pressure is not
correct on her cpap, then her muscles won't strengthen properly and her
obstructive apnea will continue. The other factor is that much of her
obstructive apnea is due to tiny passageways (nasal, throat, etc.) and
secretions. It seems to me that with growth and age, that will only
improve.

I hope this helps a little!
