My daughter Emily has reflux and has had a fundoplication. They did a
gastric emptying study where they added radio-active stuff to her fornula and
then she laid down under x-ray for 1 hour. This test showed that she had
only drained 29% of her food from her stomach in an hour. It also showed
them that she had pyloric stenosis. Sp when they did the fundo they also did
a pyloromyotomy?? She was also put on cisapride and zantac. Over time we
played with the disapride and never felt it did any good so we discontinued
that. We have continued the Zantac.
Emily also had a swallow study which they did sitting up. They fed her
barium. It was a surprise that she actually swallowed it for the study as
she wasn't swallowing anything at the time. It became the joke that I just
hadn't been feeding her the right stuff?? Hence, I should be feeding her
barium (HA HA) Anyway, this study was normal.
Hope this info helps!
