Good point, never thought about that and, yes, Ellie does have her fingers
in her mouth a fair bit - more so when she's tired - and she has a red patch
on the base of one of her thumbs so there's obviously some pressure going on
there against the teeth and possibly the gums.

Just another thought...Tess pushes her gums with her fingers
sometimes like she's trying to make them recede, if you can visualize
this? She has callouses on her fingers on both hands from constantly
trying to chew on them, but they are worse on her right hand. We are
always having to pull her hands away from her mouth. That's why when
she was on CPAP she had a dummy (pacifyer to you) at night, to try to
make her nose breath with assistance from the CPAP.
