LOL Penny! I know the blocks are crazy. Why not use the time to teach the
kids a useful skill??? Her teachers looked at me like I was crazy when I asked
if they could give her a chore--like wiping off the lunch table or throwing
away trash. I guess that was too practical.
And about motivating Soleah . . . she likes oatmeal and beans and ripping out
faces in glamour and baby magazines. She doesn't go for the reward system at
all. If you hold back something she wants, she pinches, hits, or pulls your
hair and won't cooperate at all. She quickly forgets what she wanted so then
you loose her attention that way. She's a mess! But you got me thinking . .
. I am always thinking about something I can hand her as a reward (food) but I
will try blowing bubbles, rubbing lotion on her, or tickling her--she likes
that stuff too. I'm not sure about the fan or noises but I will try that as
well. I guess I need to think OUTSIDE the box. Sad how my first thoughts are
always food related . . . now what "I" would do for an M & M . . . hehe

Oh I am NancI :o) It's just that it seems wasted on the blocks game :o) I DO
understand that the game teaches him colors and small as opposed to
big...but GEEZ LOUISE...how many times does he have to prove that he knows
for gosh sakes???!!!
Soleah is not motivated by anything, it's very frustrating. IF we could
find something she really wanted, would could get her to do more (I think)
There's NOTHING NancI? Does she like to do anything in particular? Eat or
drink anything in particular? Does she like fans or beep noises or bells or
funny whoopy cushion noises? Something that you could use cause and effect
with...if she does something you ask her to do it makes the funny noise she
likes or plays the song she likes or turns on a fan or activates a toy???
Devon uses intellikeys at school and we've been told he likes leap pad
exercises/games...gotta get him one of those!!! His birthday is
coming...will have to get him that :o)
