Sorry . . . but I am coming in a post that I have not really followed BUT
two comments from me:
1) PLEASE don't feel a bit of guilt about your childs weight gain. Soleah
just turned ten and she is 40 lbs. I have stuffed this child with
everything in sight since she was born . . . all the extra calorie additives
and "tricks" mentioned. She eats more calories than I do daily. She
weighted 9 lbs from 18 mos to 2 when she finally hit 10 lbs! My genetics
doc used to joke about "bottling" the secret to the slow wight gain so we
could all be billionaires . . . .
2) We have used "Udo's oil" essential fatty acid which is found in health
food stores with great results for Soleah (and other ailments . . . ie:
Corey's skin problems--excema sp?) We stir it into oatmeal (applesauce
works too) in the morning. We used to give in it bottles but you do have to
shake well before and during feeding.

who each day reminds me that tommorrow is not promised) Corey (2 years old,

and shooting baskets!)

mom thing, even more so for Genevieve and the chromosome issue. Should I? Sh
ouldn't I? But she comes home with me, it's my job to raise my kids, not the
doctors. I am just feeling pressed in this and I have received so many tips,
meds and ideas to try first and Gtube be the ultimate last resort if that. I
have always tried to keep mealtimes peaceful & will continue, as I won't
force her to eat and cause more issues to arise. Her therapists were all
shocked because despite being sick in November, she did gain 8 oz, just not
enough.

getting 2 for 1 price lol, and he is a very good doctor and I respect him
and what he has done for Genevieve so far. But this appt just blew me
away....

investigate alternatives but know you are doing the best for your baby. it>
is not your fault. i was 40 and they made me feel like i was 18 yrs old.>
keep asking everybody you can think of all your weight gain questions. go>
with your gut. do NOT guilt out. you are doing your best for your
baby. This is a good reminder for the moms with the babies and littlier kids.
Morgan was my first and I had no clue about anything. Although he neverhad
a problem with weight gain, they kept pushing me to keep his calorieintake
up so that he would keep gaining. And when he started eating orallyI was so
happy, yet so stressed because some days he didn't seem to eatanything and I
didn't know why. I would get so upset feeding him and thenhe would start to
cry and then I would start to cry. I didn't know that itwas "normal" for
kids to eat more one day and less another and nobody toldme that was normal.
It took me years
> to take
> the stress out of Morgan'sfeedings. And when I did, he became an all the
time good eater. If heisn't hungry I just don't feed him. You guys need to
keep the stresslevels low at feeding because your little ones will pick up
on it. I lookback on it now (that hindsight bug) and can't believe how easy
Morgan wasand how hard I made it on him and me. We only went to the
pediatrician forthe regular checkups and he saw a gastro. dr. every 3 mos.,
too. Hisweight always went up and I have absolutely no explanation or
advice togive on why he gained so well. In his first year he went from 5
lbs. 7 oz.at birth to just under 20 lbs. at 1 yr. His length increased from
17inches to 27 inches. So, after this long post I am saying listen to
Judeshe is so very right. Ask lots of questions, I asked everybody about
foodsto help gain weight and for oral eating. I asked speechies,
o.t.s,pediatrician, gastro. doc, dieticians (plural, I asked every dietician
Icame in contact with), other mo
